IT WORKS !!

Now I've my cases complete it would be nice to think about the CX, and that it had to ride again im thr spring. Becoause the CX is placed aside two months ago, with the perspective 'It will not work now' and the feeling 'I try again in after few months'.

It didn't want to go. What I tried, what sort of attempt I made, the only result was a empty battery. With help of Jan D. who donated a battery-charger, I slowly regained some confidence, confidence into the CX, the battery, and myself. Why not, let's try to startup......

A little while later the confidence was gone, the battery empty as my savings account, and the CX still assleep. What to do now?
I presented my problem to THE foum for CX problems, the Dutch Honda CX-V club I told them that the engine rotated with great difficulty, and did not start at all. The general opinion was that the battery was at the end of it's lifespan. Weel, that was a possiblilety, and worth trying. Even direct from the charger the battery had ample enough energy to pull the engine around. Theo J. out of Bennekom had an idea. He had a reasonble good spare battery, and was willing to drop by to try something. A half hour later Theo arrived, with the battery. It was quick fitted, and than there was an exciting moment. Fuel tap open, kill-switch in center position, and press the start-switch.....
This battery was not so good eighter, but it got a short and hopefull 'BROEM' out of the engine, sadly followed by a disappointing 'BRpprp, br....'

But it worked, for a very short time.

... new battery ...

The same afternoon I ordered a new battery at THV motoren in Veenendaal. It would take two days, and I had no problem to wait that time. I lasted a while longer, because the next morning I woke up with a heavy cold/light flu, and it it took some days to recover from that. But that Tuesday afternoon, a week after the previous attempt, I drove to Veenendaal, where I recieved the box that shloud contain the solution for my problems.
Mounting the battery was a easy job, and I had already some practise in it.

... mounting the battery...

Now come the moment of truth. First the checklist:

  • Kill-switch center position ? check!
  • Fuel tap open ? check !
  • Contact on ? check !
  • Neutral light on ? check !
After a little prayer St. Colombanus, patron saint of motorriders (?) the startswitch was push in firmly. The CX engine turned around and around and around and for a short moment I was afraid that again nothing would happen, until I realised that there must be some petrol into the so carefull drained carburators. A little longer, just a little longer.... and than my CX came to life, a loud and definite life. Altough I had to restart once more it was clear, it was awake from it's wintersleep.

And that I had to test. The CX was manouvred out of the shed, and parked outside. I put on my motorjack, pants, boots. Despite the drooly rain, it had to go for a short ride. get used to the motor again, get out for a short ride....

I rode to The J. in bennekom, to confirm our appointment for the CX-club on next sunday, the 'newyearscoffechat' in Boekl, and lets hope that the weather would permit us to go by CX! A hou8r later I parked the CX in the shed again, in such a manner that I could get to it, to mount my kr4auserrack. It was the first ride in 2007, and may many follow.
