A failed Fairing

Between the upgrade wishes for the CX there a fairing. I rode severall times with the Honda to my work, at that is great. Not the highway, but smaller country roads. But I want to ride the higway as well, but one of the problems is ; the wind is blowing my helmet up, and almost off. The solution : a windscreen or full fairing.
So I searched the internet, for a fairing that would fit a CX. You can find these, for a reasoneble amount of money. But that's my problem, a reasoneble amount of money is for me a high price. Therefore I looked for opportunity's, a fairing for a low price.

fairing ad.

Than I saw this ad on the internet. Fairing, 25 euro, and not to far away. According to the text complete, with all the brackets and it has been fitted to a CX500. That would be perfect, and fit on my own CX500. The color, blue, would not be so nice on my red bike, but sandpaper and paint aren't invented for cars only. I ofered 25 Euro, and heart nothing. I wrote an e-mail, on wich the replay was that he still had that fairing, and could agree with the price. Good, I thought, that's mine. We made an appointment by e-mail for friday evening.

First I was ancieus to find out more about putting a Rickman fairing on a CX500 To that end I placed an item om the forum of the Dutch Honda CX-500 club in the section "techniek" under the head "Rickman for Dummies". The same day people responded. After the first answers I got a bit nervous. Someone stated that a higher steer must be applied. I hoped that the seller would also sell his high steer to me.... Later on it became clear that a it was possible to use the standard steer.

fairing photo That friday evening we went to Nijmegen. On the adres qa man opened the door, and took us to the car in front of the house. There was a Rickman Polaris. But, no brackets. He explained that he had tried to remove the brackets from the CX, but al the bolds and nuts would not come lose. He offered me the fairing with a discount, but I know that I can't build the brackets myself. So. to bad, and somewhat disapointed we stepped in the car and drove home. No fairing.

Now I wait for the next opportunity......
