CX-parts marked day

... Parts day in Veghel ...

On April 15 we had the annual part-market from the Dutch Honda CX club. and as was proclaimed in the annoucment, a veru good opportunety to find that special part you are looking for for such a long time. I was not looking for something but..... Veghel is not so far from Ede, only 70 km, only one hour driving. After I had decided to go, i looked more closely to the ullitinboard, section "supply and demand". There I reserved a set of handlebar rubbers, as the handlebar rubbers from the "Red Rascal" were in a very bad shape.

Theo J. from Bennekom also went to the parts-day, and we agreed upon driving together. At 9:30 we left for Veghel, in a fairly calm way. The weathrer was sunny and warm, almost to hot for the motorsuit.

After a short stop we arrived at about 11:30 in veghel, at the site of Abemec. It was clear that we were at the right place. Motorcycles en motorcycle-parts, no mistake about it. We parked our bike,s Theo's red GL650 Silver wing and my own "R$ed Rascal" together in the shade. Helmet and jacket of, cause it was e very warm day.

... parked ...

First I went out in a seach for coffee, but shame on the organisation, it was not yet ready. So I had to wait, and in that time I took my first tour along all the items on display. And there was a huge amount of parts. Not only parts, as valves, brackets, valvehousing, carburators, handlebars and anything you can think of, there were also two complete CX-es, ready to disassemble at the spot, for whatever you may need. A complet front-end\ for a "c", and many, many more. Do you need another engine ? No problem, the parts-day can supply it.

But first off all I searched my handlebar rubbers, and when that was done, I looked at the other merchandise. What a pile of stuff, almost everything you ever need for your CX, you can get here,..... for a price. I find a set inletrubbers, and two little tankrubbers, that hold the tank in place.

But today is not only buying and selling, The parts-day is also a change to chat, talk, get aquinted. And of course to tell the sories about 'your' motor, sociability is one of the main items, but there are also moment to take a rest, in the shade of the building.

More and more motorcycles are coming in. Mostly CX-es, and more CX-es. An occasionaly strange bike is seen, like an Harley Davidson, and did I see an Goldwing or not ? Bought items are mounted at once, for instance a small windscreen on a CX 500 c.

... more Cx-es ...

Just these days a story about the ignition coils circulates on the forum. Therefore I decide to buy a set ignition coils, compleet with spark-plug caps. These are taken from a demolition-Cx on the spot. For a while I look around for a set of mirrors, but decide not to buy some. Trading is everywhere, and trading and consultation. "Will this fit to my CX or not" is often the problem. And there is always an expert nearby, who knows just that. Technical consultation, everywhere around.

I have found all the things I needed, and more, and that I have storage space for at home. But in the last moment I buy a higher handlebar, compleet with the cables and handles. Only the brake-set, cilinder and handle, is not attachted. The price is very low, and I cannot let it pas me by. If the Polaris ever will be fitted, this handlebar will be also. With the help of a large piece tape this will be placed on the back of my saddle.

Theo found the most parts he needed. Satisfiet we start the journey back. Our next problem is to bring everything into shape, and then mount it on the motor, but that is an other story............
